Belize is located on the eastern coast of Central America, bounded on the north by Mexico, on the west & south by Guatemala, and on the east by the Caribbean Sea.

In this small, essentially private-enterprise economy the tourism industry is the number one foreign exchange earner followed by marine products, citrus, cane sugar, bananas, and garments.


Belize’s Qualified Retired Persons Incentive Act allows for official residency & tax-free entry of a retiree’s household goods, a car, a boat & an airplane! Who qualifies? Anyone at least 45 years old from anywhere in the world can qualify for the program. A person who qualifies can also include his or her dependents in the program. Dependents include spouses and children under the age of 18. However, it can include children under the age of 23 if enrolled in a university.


Belize is close, only about 2 hours and 15 minutes by air from Miami, Florida and Houston, Texas. U.S. gateway cities to Belize include Miami, Houston & New Orleans. Direct flights are also available from Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C; and from Toronto, Canada.

Belize has been a steadily rising tourist destination since Travel & Leisure Magazine’s October 2003 cover story deemed it the new “Bright Young Thing,” also home to Francis Ford Coppola’s famous Turtle Inn.
